Comprehensive Plan Committee

Help Shape Union's Future

Join the Comprehensive Plan Drafting Committee

The Town of Union is beginning the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan, and residents are invited to participate by serving on the Comprehensive Plan Drafting Committee. This committee will help guide the planning process and ensure the final plan reflects community priorities and vision for the future.

What is a Comprehensive Plan? A Comprehensive Plan is the community's long-range roadmap for the future. It helps guide decisions about land use, housing, transportation, economic development, municipal services, natural resource protection, recreation, and other important community issues.

Why Join the Committee? Committee members will review community information, identify challenges and opportunities, assist with public outreach, review survey results and public feedback, provide local knowledge, review draft plan sections, and help ensure the final plan reflects community goals and values.

Who Should Apply? Residents from all parts of town, newer and long-time residents, business owners, people involved in agriculture, forestry, conservation, recreation, housing, education, and community services, as well as young adults, seniors, and others with a strong connection to Union are encouraged to apply. No prior planning experience is required.

What Will the Process Involve? The process will include community surveys, public workshops, data gathering, development of goals and policies, preparation of a draft plan, public review, and eventual adoption of the completed plan.

How to Apply? Residents interested in serving on the Comprehensive Plan Drafting Committee should complete and submit a Comprehensive Plan Committee Statement of Interest Form. Applications will be reviewed as part of the committee appointment process.
