MaineDOT - Route 17 Bridge
The Preliminary Scope of Work for this project consists of replacing the bridge. It was constructed in 1960 and had its superstructure rehabilitated in 1993. The deck is in poor condition, the superstructure is in satisfactory condition, and the substructure is in fair condition. Due to the condition of the bridge, rehabilitation is not feasible. Replacing the bridge will also allow for a wider bridge.
Maintenance of traffic during construction will either consist of a detour or an on-site temporary two -lane bridge.
Please see the presentation below for additional information.
FERAL CATS - Do you have a barn home for them?
There are approximately six feral cats in Union that need a great barn home! Pope Memorial Humane Society in Thomaston will spay/neuter and vaccinate the cats for free. Please call Animal Control Officer Heidi Blood at 322-3237 for more information.
BROADBAND COMMITTEE
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11 - TIDEWATER COMMUNITY EVENT - - - FREE PIZZA!
On Wednesday, December 11, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, Tidewater will host a Community Event for the citizens of Union, to provide information about the high-speed Internet service now available through Tidewater’s recently-expanded fiber optic network. The expansion was partially funded by a grant obtained with Union’s assistance, and the network now reaches almost two-thirds of all addresses in Union. Tidewater personnel will be present to explain the service, the extent of the network, and how to request a connection. The event will be held at the Union Town Office in the downstairs meeting room. Drop in anytime between 3:00 and 6:00 PM to hear about the service, ask questions, check availability at your address, and sign up if you’re interested. There will be free pizza, cookies, and soft drinks at the event, courtesy of Tidewater.
